Props with Purpose: Adding Personality and Contrast to Icelandic Photography. Photographer in Iceland, elopement and portrait photographer in Iceland

1. Creating Contrast with Iceland’s Landscape. Iceland’s scenery is gorgeous, but it’s often raw and muted in color. Adding a bold prop—like a bright orange dress or a fresh flower crown—creates a striking contrast with the rugged environment. This mix of opposites brings a unique energy to my photos and helps the subject stand out against the dramatic backdrop. It’s all about making something that grabs your attention and keeps you looking.

2. Capturing a Moment That’s Truly One-of-a-Kind. When I craft a prop for a shoot, I’m creating something that exists just for that moment. The combination of the crown, the pose, the landscape—it’s a scene that’s never happened before and will never happen again. Freezing that moment in time is part of what makes photography so special to me. It feels like I’m bottling up something completely unique.

3. Making Each Session Personal. Many of my clients come to me with dreams of feeling like a goddess, a queen, or just the best version of themselves for a day. By designing custom props and outfits, I can help bring that vision to life. It’s not just about the photos—it’s about the experience of stepping into a fantasy and letting their personality shine through. Every detail is tailored to them, which makes each session so personal and meaningful.

4.Because I Just Love Crafting! Honestly, the process of making these props is half the fun. From sketching out an idea to burning my fingers with hot glue, I love every part of it. Watching raw materials transform into something beautiful is so rewarding. It’s creative, hands-on, and makes the final photos feel even more special because I’ve put a piece of myself into them.

For me, crafting crowns and props is about more than just pretty accessories. It’s about telling a story, creating a unique moment, and making every session unforgettable. Plus, who doesn’t love a good excuse to get a little crafty?

And maybe that’s the beauty of it all. Sometimes it’s the smallest details—a crown, a flower, a bit of fabric—that can carry the biggest emotions. For me, creating is a reminder that art doesn’t have to be perfect or grand to be meaningful. It just has to come from the heart. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that the simplest touches can spark the deepest connections. And isn’t that what photography, and life, are really about?

Looking ahead, I wish for myself more opportunities to create beautiful props and craft unique photo sessions that inspire and amaze. Each piece I make is not just a tool but a reflection of the dreams I hold and the stories I want to tell. I hope to attract clients who share this passion for storytelling, who see photography as a way to freeze a unique moment of magic and emotion. Perhaps, through collaboration with other creative minds, I can explore new horizons, combining visions to craft something even more profound. For me, this journey is about more than photos or props—it’s about connecting with others and leaving a trace of beauty, creativity, and meaning in the world. The possibilities are endless, and I can’t wait to see what’s next!
